What is the best time of year to visit Polk County?
October through April is the comfortable season in Polk County: lower humidity, mild days, and the busiest stretch of festivals, carillon programs, and outdoor events. Summer is hot, humid, and prone to afternoon thunderstorms.
Peak festival months on the Ridge are October through December, when the fall festivals, holiday events, and downtown markets stack up.
If you're visiting in summer, plan gardens, trails, and lakes for early morning and leave mid-afternoon for indoor stops.
