October 2026 in Lake Wales and Polk County: what to plan around

The heat finally breaks, and the calendar fills up. Here are the October dates worth building a weekend around on the Ridge and across Polk County.

October is when Central Florida's interior starts to feel like it is worth being outside again. Evenings cool off, afternoon storms fade, and organizers across Polk County pack their calendars accordingly. These are the dates we would plan around this month.

Saturday, October 10: Lake Wales Downtown Market

Market Plaza fills from 9 AM to 1 PM with produce, makers, and prepared food. Go early, then walk the downtown murals while it is still cool.

Friday, October 16: Main Street Bartow Friday Fest

A short drive west, downtown Bartow's monthly street party brings music, vendors, and kids' activities from 6 to 9 PM.

Saturday, October 17: Sunset carillon at Bok Tower Gardens

An evening recital under the Singing Tower is the best way to see the gardens in fall light. Confirm times and admission with the gardens before you drive.

Wednesday, October 21: Lake Wales Startup Night

Attorney Denise Tessier, Esq. talks startup legal strategy at The Thirsty Dragon, 126 N 1st St, at 6 PM. It is free, with food and drinks. RSVP at lwstartups.lovable.app.

Keep checking the calendar

Listings change, and new dates get posted all month. The events calendar only shows what is still ahead, so it is the fastest way to see what is left in October.
